One of our current projects is to increase the flow of Gift-In-Kind (donated) XXXL (or other large sized garments) to sewing projects. When the seamstresses receive these items they can very quickly and easily up cycle (0r cut up and repurpose) these items. The items aren’t being distributed to children in need around the world via the “normal” GIK donation process because they are such odd sizes.

Here are some examples:

These Are Pretty Big Pants! They are made from very nice high quality fabric that is perfect for messenger bags!

Once seamstresses learn how to take an item, (like a cool messenger bag), and use it as a pattern – they can upcycle this type of garment and turn it into a product that blesses the children in their community.

Here Cinnamon is teaching the seamstresses how to use a nice messenger bag that one of them had - as a pattern.

And the messenger bags weren't hard to make - or difficult for the ladies to create.

The finished messenger bags (up cycled from the XXXL pants) go straight to a child in need.

We have more fun examples I’ll share in another post!
